Igneous Rocks
Igneous rocks are formed under ground when magma or lava from the mantle cools. Three igneous rock found in Georgia are granite, diabase, and migmatite. The word igneous comes from the Latin word ignis. It sounds like ignite. It means fire. Some igneous rocks are formed without large crystals because they cooled faster. Other ones have big crystals because they cooled slower letting the crystals grow.
